Briançon, an incredibly charming town
A major town in the Hautes-Alpes, Briançon combines a skiing holiday with city comforts. Located just 15 km from Italy, this town has known a turbulent history, as evidenced by the fortifications built there by Vauban. Once you have picked up your ski rental in Briançon, catch the Prorel gondola lift up to 250 km of pistes extending between 1,200 m and 2,800 m of altitude. You can avail of around 60 ski lifts to explore the 14 green runs, 27 blue runs, 35 red runs and 14 black runs across this ski terrain.
These pistes will take you through tranquil larch forests and large snow fields that offer stunning views of the Massif des Écrins peaks. Freestylers are also well catered for with a snowpark featuring modules of gradually increasing difficulty, a technical boardercross circuit, FunnyCross area for beginners and wooden modules in the MéléZone. Freeriders can converge on the powdery snow in secure signposted areas on the Brut de Neige pistes. Alongside this, you can also explore the Guisane valley on 25 km of dedicated cross-country skiing trails.
