Briançon, an incredibly charming town

A major town in the Hautes-Alpes, Briançon combines a skiing holiday with city comforts. Located just 15 km from Italy, this town has known a turbulent history, as evidenced by the fortifications built there by Vauban. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, these exceptional sites lend Briançon its truly distinctive character. It is worth setting down your ski rental for a while to explore these impressive works.

With over 10,000 residents, the options for après-ski in Briançon are endless. Stroll through the streets lined with colourful dwellings, discover the town's religious heritage, or enjoy something to eat in one of the town's many restaurants. Briançon is also one of the few resorts to have both a theatre and a casino. Throughout the year, many events are organised from city culture to sporting events across the Serre Chevalier ski area.
