The Valloire resort

A historic resort

Valloire is situated in the Maurienne Valley and opened its slopes almost a 100 years ago This little village became a winter sports Mecca for all ages. Valloire is a resort fun to visit in a group, whether with family or friends or why not both? Other than skiing, you'll find snow shoe walks, dog sledding, ice skating, Snake Gliss, bowling and a cinema. And when it's time to relax, head to the Val'Form centre with its Hamman steam room, sauna and jacuzzi.

The resort's also fun in summer thanks to its superb hikes and mountain bike trails. Every year since 1972, the Tour de France has included the Col de Valloire Galibier, situated at 2,642 m altitude, which has become a legendary Tour de France mountain pass.

The ski area

Valloire's ski area is linked to Valmeinier and together they make up the Galibier-Thabor ski area. You'll find 160 km of runs spread over 3 massifs ((Sétaz, Crey du Quart and Gros Crey), and 29 ski lifts.

This area has numerous pluses, including its size which ranges from 1,460 to 2,600 m altitude, with 70% of the area above 2,000 m. The skiable Galibier-Thabor area has 85 runs (8 black, 31 red, 25 blue and 21 green) with a range of scenery from forests to wide slopes, runs that weave through hamlets, several large valleys... The Valloire runs are also served by a snow canon to ensure perfect powder at the start and end of each season. In addition to its 85 runs, the area also has a snowpark that's one of the largest and best in France.

You can also go cross-country skiing at Valloire, where you'll find 10 km of runs between 1,550 and 1,850 m altitude.

Good to know:
- One of best snowparks in France
- A historic resort
- Suited to all levels
