A resort that has become historic
Les Menuires is a resort over 55 years old, located in the commune of Belleville. It was built in the 1960s when skiing was booming. The resort then became a destination of choice for many ski enthusiasts, notably thanks to its opening onto the "3 Vallées" ski area. The resort gained its reputation as a sports destination thanks to the 1992 Albertville Olympic Games. Les Menuires then hosted the men's slalom event, won by the Norwegian Finn Christian Jagge.
The resort has obtained several labels, recognising its sporty, family-friendly character, such as "Best family resorts" in 2015; "Station grand domaine" or "Top of the French Alps".
The ski area
The resort of Les Menuires is linked to Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, Méribel, Val Thorens and Courchevel, thanks to the largest ski area in the world: "Les 3 Vallées". The area of Les Menuires has a total of 76 slopes that can go from 1100 meters to 3200 metres of altitude.
Les 3 Vallées has three main sectors: Mont de la Chambre, recently renovated and very popular with families; La Masse, which offers a magnificent panorama from its summit as well as numerous off-piste itineraries; and the Grangeraies sector, which provides access to Saint-Martin from Les Menuires and to the resort of Méribel.
The resort offers many activities such as snowshoeing, sledding, dog sledding and a very large aquatic complex.
