Sporty (and lively) resort

Day or night, Vars is a sporty resort. Famed as the perfect destination for freeriders, all skiers from beginners to advanced can have a great time here. Powder fans will be delighted to make the first tracks down the resort's slopes. Famous sectors include: "La Virgule", "La Banane", "Le Petit Col" and "Y". Always remember to take care and respect the snow conditions when skiing off-piste. Freeriding aside, the resort famously holds the speed skiing record. In 2016, Italian Ivan Origone achieved 254.958 km/h on the Chabrières piste.

If you fancy a change from skiing, there are lots of other activities on offer in Vars. The Outdoormix Festival takes place twice a year, combining sports and partying. The Winter edition showcases some crazier sports, such as snow kayaking and acrobatic paragliding. The Spring edition offers BMX, climbing, kayaking, kite surfing and many other outdoor activities. Both summer and winter festivals are set to the beat of music concerts and swinging nightlife.

Ski area

Vars sits amid the huge Forêt Blanche ski terrain, shared with the resort of Risoul. The vast ski area offers 185 kilometres of pistes, so there is something for everyone! Among the 116 slopes to enjoy, there are black runs packed with bumps, as well as picturesque blue runs through the larch trees. Great skiing for everyone.

Top-notch facilities include the Varspark snowpark – heaven for fans of freestyle – a slalom piste and boardercross, as well as a free beginner zone which is perfect for mastering your skis.
