Located at 1,850 m altitude in the heart of the southern Alps at the gateway to the Parc National des Écrins, the resort of Risoul has a ski area with 185 km of pistes shared with the resort of Vars.

Historic resort

Constructed amidst a larch forest, the resort of Risoul opened in 1969. The resort was founded when the surrounding hamlets joined forces to combat youth migration towards the cities.

Today, the resort of Risoul is well-renowned and is a haven of peace and quiet that is perfect for a family holiday. It caters for all of your needs: shopping, local crafts, ski rental outlets, clothing stores, caretaking service, etc.

Ski area

The beautifully-named La Forêt Blanche ski area is the result of the linkup between Risoul and Vars. Both resorts have combined forces to offer a modern ski area with over 185 km and 116 pistes to hurtle down under the magnificent blue sky.

Indeed, the snow conditions in Risoul are frequently perfect, with brief intense falls of snow followed by unbroken sunshine. That is the real asset of this dry and cool climate in the southern Alps.
