A small village with a population of fewer than 1,000 year-round inhabitants, in winter, Sestriere is transformed into a lovely ski resort. Located in the Italian Alps, near Turin in the Piedmont region, the resort rises to an altitude of 2,000 m.
The resort was founded in 1934 by the Agnelli family, owners of the FIAT car brand. This purpose-built resort was destined to become a major centre for winter sports, as evidenced by the pair of skis featured on its coat of arms.
Options for après-ski await in the many bars and restaurants lining the main street in the centre of town: Bar QB, Iglou, GFC, etc. As is the case throughout Italy, pre-dinner cocktails are an essential part of a relaxing finish to the day. During your authentic immersion into Italian culture, why not sample the fine red wines, artisanal and traditional cold meats and tasty pizzas?
Sestriere's ski terrain is made up of more than 200 km of pistes and its highest point is at an altitude of 2,840 m. As such, plentiful snow really is guaranteed throughout the season. For fans of freestyle and thrill-seekers, this area has many marked off-piste trails.
If you’re an expert skier looking for even more space, the ski terrain in Sestriere is linked to the Via Lattea (Milky Way) ski area, adding another 390 km of slopes and lots more skiing opportunities!
