The Cauterets resort

The Cauterêts resort, 30 minutes from Lourdes, combines the charm of a village with the comfort of a town, all in the heart of the Pyrenees mountains.

Its ski area is split in two, offering both downhill and cross-country skiing.

The undeniable charm of the Cauterêts resort, particularly its thermal baths, makes it a jewel of France's cultural heritage. Its architecture and buildings, such as the Thermes de César (Caesar's thermal baths), the wooden railway station, etc., still make it famous today. Many historical figures have also passed through its doors, including Victor Hugo, George Sand, Sarah Bernardt, Napoléon III and Chateaubriand.

For downhill skiers, the Cirque du Lys ski area is just 12 minutes away via the Lys cable car. As well as enjoying exceptional snow conditions, this ski area offers fabulous panoramic views, including iconic peaks such as the Vignemale, Ardiden and Pic du Midi. The Pont d'Espagne, a magical spot in the heart of the Pyrenees National Park, is also ideal for a gentle introduction to downhill skiing, in a natural, unspoilt setting of plateaux, prestigious peaks and fir trees.
