A modern resort
The resort of Les Houches, with all its picturesque hamlets, has managed to preserve its natural heritage. The walks and other hikes will allow you to admire beautiful landscapes.
The resort has been awarded the "family plus" label, and will therefore delight young and old alike. Parents will be able to have some time to themselves, as there are so many activities planned for the youngsters.
The resort of Les Houches offers a multitude of non-skiing activities such as snowshoeing with professional instructors who will take you to the ridges, the forest and even the magnificent nature reserve. You can also go dog sledding and ice skating. After a day of skiing or hiking, you can relax in one of the few wellness centres and unwind with massages, hammams, saunas and facials.
If you are a night owl, you can continue the party in the nearby clubs, such as the Spekkie nightclub.
The ski area
Its ski area comprises 55 kilometres of slopes located between 1,900 and 990 metres in altitude. Most of the runs are in the forest, ideal for those who like to ski among the fir trees. Each skier will find something to suit his or her level.
The resort is famous for its slope called "La verte des Houches", but beware, this is not a slope for beginners. It is a black run, often used as a stage in the Alpine Ski World Cup. It takes its name from the fir trees that line the 870 metre drop.
Les Houches is also 7 kms of cross-country skiing, 7 kms of footpaths, 7 kms of snowshoe trails and 1 snowpark.
Once the snow has melted, the mountain bike trails at Les Houches open up and give way to more summery descents.
