Haute-Nendaz, a typical Valais region ski resort

Given its close proximity to the town of Sion, getting to the ski resort of Haute-Nendaz couldn't be easier. The modern buildings in Haute-Nendaz have adopted the traditional mountain dwelling style, resulting in an architecturally-pleasing blend of accommodation blocks and individual chalets. The centre of the village has everything you need for a comfortable stay: a wide selection of shops, restaurants, ski rental stores and an open-air ice-skating rink.

During your stay, take some time out to stroll through the streets in the old Haute-Nendaz village where you’ll come across old barns, the Tsâblo water mill, Saint-Michel church and the chapel of the same name built in 1499. The après-ski scene in Haute-Nendaz is varied: relax at the resort spa or set out on a cross-country skiing adventure to take in the stunning views of the Rhône valley below.

Ski area in Haute-Nendaz

Together with Verbier, La Tzoumaz, Bruson, Veysonnaz and Thyon, Nendaz makes up the 4 Valleys ski area. With 410 km of interconnected pistes, it is quite simply the largest ski area in Switzerland. So, slip on your ski rental and prepare to tear down 24 blue runs , 39 red runs and 10 black runs. Whatever your skiing ability, set aside time to climb to the top of Mont-Fort, the resort’s highest point at an elevation of 3,300 m, from where you can admire stunning panoramic views of Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn and the Grand Combin (then ski back down the black run or ride the cable car).

The kid’s snow club in the Lake Tracouet area is a favourite with children, who can learn to ski downhill on its safe, fun slopes. Freestyle action awaits in the Nendaz Woodpark featuring wooden modules designed for skiers and snowboarders of all levels! There are also seven more marked freeride routes to explore from Haute-Nendaz. Finally, there are two cross-country skiing circuits: a 6 km loop for beginners and another 4 km circuit.
