Located in the Swiss canton of Vaud, the municipality of Château-d’Œx is home to 3,500 year-round inhabitants. Come the winter, it becomes a compact ski resort with easy and friendly slopes that are perfect for families.
A ski resort in winter, the small town is best known for its International Hot Air Balloon Festival. Alongside this, visitors will find plenty more to satisfy their curiosity in the many treasures Château-d’Œx has to offer, including a hike up the Kirchenhügel (Temple hill) that leads you to a wonderful panorama of the entire valley. In the high Alpine chalets of the Pays-d’Enhaut region, you can also discover local specialities including many delicious cheeses such as L’Etivaz PDO and other goat's, cow’s and sheep’s milk cheeses.
In Château-d’Œx, families are centre-stage at the start of the summer during the annual “Au Pays des Enfants” children's festival that features street entertainers, clowns and magicians as part of a programme of fun and educational activities.
