In the heart of Switzerland's Vaud Alps at an altitude of over 1,200 m, each winter, many tourists flock to the ski resort of Villars-sur-Ollon for their ski holiday. The south-facing aspect gives this resort a favourable climate throughout the season.
Cultural resort with a gastronomical heritage
Villars-sur-Ollon exudes village charm with architecture that is typical of the Vaud Alps. There are numerous wooden chalets with stone tile terraces. Alongside this, the village offers plenty of local shops in which to enjoy a browse.
The culture and tradition of Villars-sur-Ollon are expressed in many ways in this small town, both in the activities available to try there and in its museums and exhibitions. So, take some time out to roam the Alpine pastures and learn about the traditional way of making the local cheese: L’Etivaz PDO. Alongside this, the region is home to two wine makers whose 200 hectares of vines produce Pinot Noir and Gamay grapes among others. So, make sure you try this amazing food and drink before you leave!
Villars-Gryon-Les Diablerets-Glacier 3000 ski area
Linking the three villages of Villars, Gryon and Les Diablerets, the adjacent skiable terrain offers over 112 km of pistes climbing to the highest point of this region: Glacier 3000. You’ll find very high altitude pistes in Glacier 3000 which are deemed to be the highest in the Vaud Alps.
Children and beginners can learn to ski with total peace of mind at one of the on-site ski schools which are supervised by qualified instructors who are happy to assist. Expert skiers will relish the chance to tackle the Red Run, an 8 km black-classified run with a vertical descent of 1,700 m.
