Indeed, the resort prioritises shuttle bus transportation and is one of the few car-free resorts in France. Very much in keeping with the times, these measures are part of a comprehensive approach to sustainable development that began 50 years ago.

Ski area

The resort of Flaine offers a huge selection of pistes across two ski areas: Flaine’s ski area and the Grand Massif ski area. You can look forward to a total of 203 pistes, all served by 86 ski lifts of all types.

From the summit of Grandes Platières at an elevation of 2,500 m, the scenery is absolutely spectacular. A number of mountain ranges come into view: Mont-Blanc, Aravis, Belledonne, Jura ... Stunning snow-capped mountains as far as the eye can see.

Unmissable highlights of the ski area include: the 14 km long Piste des Cascades blue run with no lift service, lots of great areas for freeriding, plus all the nursery slopes in Flaine where you can improve your technique!
